This script blocks YouTube's animated thumbnail hover previews (animated WebP & video) while preserving progress bars, play buttons, and static thumbnails.
Works on all pages: homepage, subscriptions, watch, search, channels, etc.

Save bandwidth and reduce distractions while browsing YouTube
No login required – works instantly, without any configuration
No permissions. Runs at document-start

⚙️ Key features:

  • Blocks all animated previews (thumbnails, hover, trailers, GIFs in Posts)
  • Auto-pauses & mutes hidden preview videos (an_webp, avif etc.)
  • 100% coverage via MutationObserver - keeps red progress bars

📥 Install:

  • First time? Install Tampermonkey/Violentmonkey/Greasemonkey → Click Install this script → Hard refresh YouTube (Ctrl + Shift + R)
  • Quick tip: On Safari/macOS, use Violentmonkey (Tampermonkey works but needs extra setup)

⚠️ Note:

  • Brave users: If you see “An error occurred. Please try again later + Playback ID” while switching Theater ↔ Fullscreen → disable Shields just for youtube.com or use a different userscript manager (Violentmonkey/Tampermonkey work best)
  • Hovering may still add videos to watch history due to YouTube server-side changes (late 2024) – pause watch history for full control
  • Enable Developer Mode and Allow User Scripts (if available) in Extensions, otherwise the script won’t run

Script chặn hiệu ứng xem trước khi hover thumbnail trên YouTube (ảnh động WebP & video), nhưng giữ nguyên thanh tiến độ, nút play và ảnh tĩnh.
Chạy mọi trang: trang chủ, tab Đăng ký, xem video, tìm kiếm, kênh...

Tiết kiệm băng thông và giảm phân tâm khi lướt YouTube
Không cần đăng nhập – hoạt động ngay, không cần thay đổi bất kỳ cài đặt nào
Không cần quyền. Chạy ngay khi tải trang (document-start)

⚙️ Tính năng chính:

  • Chặn hoàn toàn mọi preview động (thumbnail, hover, trailer, GIF trong bài đăng)
  • Tự động tạm dừng & tắt tiếng video preview ẩn (an_webp, avif v.v.)
  • Phủ sóng 100 % nhờ MutationObserver - vẫn giữ thanh tiến độ màu đỏ

📥 Cài đặt:

  • Lần đầu? Cài Tampermonkey/Violentmonkey/Greasemonkey → Bấm Cài đặt script này → Làm mới hoàn toàn YouTube (Ctrl + Shift + R)
  • Mẹo nhỏ: Trên Safari/macOS, dùng Violentmonkey (Tampermonkey cũng được nhưng cần thêm bước)

⚠️ Lưu ý:

  • Người dùng Brave: Nếu bạn thấy “Đã xảy ra lỗi. Vui lòng thử lại sau + Mã lượt phát” khi chuyển Theater ↔ Fullscreen → tắt Shields chỉ cho youtube.com hoặc dùng trình quản lý userscript khác (Violentmonkey/Tampermonkey ổn định nhất)
  • Di chuột (hover) vẫn có thể thêm video vào lịch sử xem do thay đổi server YouTube (cuối 2024) – tạm dừng lịch sử xem để kiểm soát hoàn toàn
  • Bật Chế độ dành cho nhà phát triển và Cho phép tập lệnh người dùng (nếu có) trong phần Tiện ích
